Low Voltage Solutions: 17 Years and Growing

In September 1997, Gary St. Cin and his late partner, John Fassett, incorporated Low Voltage Solutions, working out of Fassett’s two-car garage. Manufacturer reps would visit and sign reseller contracts at the kitchen table.

Since then, LVS has steadily grown to a team of 60 strong. Proudly, 20% of LVS’ people have been with the company for more than 10 years and 50% have been LVS staffers for more than 5 years. LVS launched an Audio Visual Division in the spring of 2013 as a value-added service and has acquired companies, over the years, which complement LVS’ service offering.

“We have a culture here where people like coming to work. Everyone is a part of our success,” said LVS President Gary St. Cin. He says LVS’ impressive retention of field people has been key to maintaining relationships with loyal customers and earning repeat project work.

“I have several guys who started at LVS during our first three years in business and who are still here. They understand the importance of a job well done, customer service skills, and on-going training. They take enormous pride in what they do,” said St. Cin.

One of those individuals is Nick Siwak. He was 19 years old, a recent graduate of Glenbard North High School, when he started at LVS just six months after the company began. After serving an apprenticeship, he became a journeyman and then a foreman. Now, Nick is LVS’ Project Manager/Superintendent and Safety Director, overseeing more than 50 field technicians.

Nick and several others like him have worked hard to demonstrate professionalism, knowledge of the trade, a can-do work ethic, project efficiency, and solid follow-through on promises. They make sure, along with management, that new people who join LVS convey and follow these same values.

Although they didn’t invest in any significant capital expenditures during the Great Recession of 2008 and 2009, the company continued to grow steadily even amidst a challenging economy. St. Cin credits the loyalty of his team and how devoted they are to exceeding customer expectations. The philosophy existed when the company first started and continues to shape LVS at a time when the company is poised for even greater growth.
